Review: The Reappearance of Rachel Price

Image
Book information Title: The Reappearance of Rachael Price Author: Holly Jackson Where to buy:  Amazon “I don’t know.” Those three little words Bel knew better than most. Both the truth and a blockade, to hide behind when you needed it. But now that she was on the other side of those words, she finally saw why it drove people mad. I LOVE the temperament and humour of Bel. Even though the book is supoosed to be sad and more on the emotional side, I couldn't but catch the little jokes and actually chuckle. Especially when she gets annoyed and add some insults out of nowhere that leave the room silent.  Even though I didn't like that her attidue sometimes came across as too bitchy, I think that it was done on purpose as we know that she never wanted to be filmed in the first place and surely got annoyed at some point being asked about her mum while she always said 'I don't know' or 'I was too young to remember anything that happened'. So I totally get her. Would...

Review: Annihilation

Image
Book information Title: Annihilation Author: Jeff Vandermeer Where to buy:  Amazon ,  Barnes & Noble ,  Bookshop.org I watched the film when it came out and I did know there was a book, but didn't read it till now. But here we are! (And before you ask: The film is VERY different from the book. Some ideas were implanted into the film, but most didn't even exist in the book) As said near the beginning of the book all characters were trained to leave personal stuff behind; Meaning that one is only there for the task to discover Area X and should only focus on that. So we of course don't get any friendship or the sort there. But we get the backstory of our main character which at least makes us connect a bit with her. There were so many crazy things happening, but can't mention them as that would spoiler the fun. But they were so cool and interesting to read about! The backstory we got of the main character was so detailed. We get every now and then a bit new informatio...

Review: The Gashlycrumb Tinies

Book information Title: The Gashlycrumb Tinies Author: Edward Gorey Where to buy: Author doesn't want their work to be brought, only PDF/ePub files are available. The book is really cool. It follow the AABBAA ryhme. Even though it shorts it teaches us how easily one can perish. It's a bit off that for each sample is used a child, but they are the ones who have the highest risk of it, when supervisors aren't around. So I get that point. But I don't understand why the pictures were sometimes a bit hard to see. For the 'V is for Victor squashed under a train' the picture seems like a boy completely fine standing somewhere which I also can't see that good. Would have enjoyed the short book more if the images weren't that hard to see.  It's also a bit sad that the book isn't allowed to he bought. I understand that every author has their own right for their books, but would have been nice to perhaps buying it and not only having it as PDF file. The boo...
